Chocolate Casserole

This is the most decadent dessert ever.

  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp. oil
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter
  • 1/3 cup semisweet chocolate pieces
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa
  • 3/4 cup boiling water
  • 1/3 cup honey roasted peanuts
  • 2 tbsp. crumbled chocolate flavoured graham wafers

1. Preheat oven to 350 F. Combine flour, 1/4 cup sugar,and baking powder. Add milk, oil and vanilla.With whisk stir till smooth. Stir in peanut butter and semisweet chocolate pieces.
2. Pour batter into ungreased casserole. Set aside. Stir together remaining  sugar and cocoa in same bowl. Gradually stir in boiling water. Pour mix evenly over batter in casserole.
3.Bake uncovered 35 to 40 minutes. Remove from oven and top with peanuts and graham crackers. If desired serve warm with cream or whipped cream.  Makes 6 servings.

Norah's tip:

Try this with different toppings, vary the nuts and wafers. You can pare your utility bills with efficient use of kitchen appliances. Over a period of time, the small savings will add up. Your oven can do double duty if you cook two items instead of one whenever possible. Roast two chickens at a time and save one for later use, or bake two pies and freeze one.
